On March 1, 2024, the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs and Worker Protections released the Workers’ Bill of Rights. The new legislation requires NYC employers to distribute a workers’ rights notice to all employees and conspicuously post the notice in the workplace.
New York City Workers’ Bill of Rights Update
- New law requiring all employers in New York City to distribute to all employees and post in the workplace a guide to rights in the workplace in New York City
- Summarizes city, state, and federal laws that protect workers and job applicants in New York City, regardless of immigration status
- By July 1, 2024, all employers in New York City must post the required notice in the workplace, or to their intranet or mobile app if applicable.
- By July 1, 2024, all employers in New York City must provide a copy of the notice to each employee.
New York City Labor Law Poster Update
All businesses within New York City must display the new “Workers’ Bill of Rights” notice along with other state-mandated posting requirements where they are sufficiently accessible and viewable to all employees. This change has been reflected in our New York City Labor Law Poster and requires an immediate mandatory update. Failure to meet compliance requirements and display the updated poster could result in fines.
