In April 2024 the Virginia Employment Commission published a revised unemployment insurance notice stating the requirement of individuals to provide proof of their identity.
Virginia Unemployment Insurance Law Update
- Individuals applying for unemployment insurance will need to provide their full name, social security number, and authorization to work if applicable.
- Employers must provide a copy of the notice to each worker at the time of separation from employment.
- The website link to the Virginia Employment Commission was added to the notice.
Virginia Labor Law Poster Update
All businesses within the state of Virginia must display the new “Notice to Workers” along with other state-mandated posting requirements where they are sufficiently accessible and viewable to all employees.
