Labor Law Poster Alert: District of Columbia Updates Labor Law Posters

August 12, 2026

District of Columbia employers have three important labor law poster updates to implement. Effective July 1, 2026, the District updated its Minimum Wage, Universal Wage, and Wage Transparency workplace posters. Employers should replace outdated notices with the latest versions to remain compliant.

Keeping labor law posters up to date is one of the simplest and most important steps employers can take to avoid compliance issues.

District of Columbia Labor Law Poster Updates

The following workplace posters have been updated and should be displayed beginning July 1, 2026:

Minimum Wage Poster

The District’s updated Minimum Wage poster reflects the new minimum wage rate of $18.40 per hour that took effect on July 1, 2026. Employers should replace previous versions so employees are informed of the current wage requirements.

Other updates to the poster include updated language regarding compensation to minors and overtime provisions.

Universal Wage Notice

The primary update on the latest Universal Wage Law Notice is the reflection of the new minimum wage rates. Effective July 1, 2026, the minimum wage is $18.40 per hour, and the tipped minimum wage is $10.30 per hour.

Along with the rate changes, the poster features updated language regarding minors and compliance information.

Wage Transparency Act Notice

While the Minimum Wage poster has standard workplace information, D.C. has also finalized a mandatory Wage Transparency Act notice to be displayed alongside it, requiring employers to disclose salary ranges on job postings.

Why Updating Labor Law Posters Matter

Displaying outdated labor law posters can expose employers to unnecessary compliance risks. Government agencies regularly revise workplace notices to reflect changes in laws, wage rates, employee rights, and employer responsibilities.
