Virginia employers should review and update their workplace postings following the latest Virginia Job Safety and Health Protection poster update. The Virginia Department of Labor and Industry (DOLI) has published an updated Virginia Occupational Safety and Health (VOSH) notice, revised in August 2026.

What Changed in the Virginia Job Safety and Health Protection Poster?
The August 2026 update reflects increased maximum penalties under Virginia’s occupational safety and health requirements:
| Violation | Previous Maximum | New Maximum |
| Serious violations | $16,286 | $16,652 |
| Other-than-serious violations | $16,286 | $16,652 |
| Willful or repeated violations | $162,849 | $166,500 |
These increased penalty amounts are reflected on the newly revised VOSH poster. The updated poster also includes revised contact information for Virginia’s VOSH regional offices.

Why Are These Changes Important?
The Virginia Occupational Safety and Health program (VOSH) establishes and enforces workplace safety and health standards throughout the Commonwealth.
The required Virginia Job Safety and Health Protection poster informs employees of their rights and responsibilities, including workplace safety, inspections, citations, employee rights, employer responsibilities, and accident reporting.
Because the poster has been revised, employers should replace older versions with the August 2026 notice.

Is the Virginia Job Safety and Health Protection Poster Required?
Yes. Virginia employers must display the Virginia Occupational Safety and Health poster in a prominent place in the establishment to which employees normally report to work.
