Washington Summary of Workplace Rights Poster Update

The state of Washington released a mandatory poster update to the Summary of Workplace Rights poster. All businesses in the state of Washington must display this updated poster or face fines.

The new poster has been revised to show information about the Paid Family and Medical Leave laws, which go into effect on January 1st, 2020. The update informs employees that they are allowed to take up to 12 weeks when welcoming a new child into their family, are struck by a serious illness or injury, need to take care of an ill or ailing relative, or for certain military connected events.

The poster update also includes information regarding the  Equal Pay Opportunity Act and let’s employees know that employers are prohibited from providing unequal pay or career advancement opportunities based on gender and other rights.

This poster must be displayed in a conspicuous place for all employees to access.
