Free CPR Posters

Many employers are interested in free CPR Posters. While I have not located a source for free CPR posters, many suppliers provide accurate, safe CPR posters at a very reasonable cost.

Look for a CPR poster that is a simple ABC guide to CPR. The poster should be large and colorful so it is highly visible in an emergency, and laminated so that it is durable.

Employers should make sure that their CPR posters are displayed in a prominent location. OSHA mandates first aid and CPR training for many industries, including logging and hydroelectric power generation. They strongly recommend first aid and CPR training for employees, supervisors and managers in other industries.

CPR posters can be an effective tool in an employer’s health and safety program. According to the US Dept. of Labor Regulations Standards – 29 CFR, entitled Basic Elements of a First Aid Training Program (Non-mandatory), basic adult CPR training should be included in the program. Retesting should occur every year. The training program should include instruction in:

1. Establishing and maintaining an open airway on adults.

2. Performing adult breathing resuscitation.

3. Performing adult circulatory resuscitation.

4. Performing choking assessments and appropriate first aid interventions.

5. Resuscitating the drowning victim.

CPR procedures for children and infants are usually not covered on employer’s CPR posters. Training in childhood CPR is beneficial for operators of day care and nursing facilities, as well as schools and recreational programs.

A variety of resources is available for employer’s who wish to provide free CPR training. Many local Fire Departments and hospitals offer free CPR training. There are several courses available at a modest fee. Some employers choose to purchase a self-paced CPR course on videotape. This works especially well for employers with only a few employees, or who have employees who work different shifts.
