Mileage Reimbursement Law Requirements Governing the State of Utah (UT)

When you work and must use your own car or vehicle for work-related use, then your employer should compensate you for the amount of miles that you put on your car. This cents-per-mile will vary from state to state, but in general, you can expect to receive anywhere from 44 to 48 cents per mile. Utah is one such state that supports this law. When you use your car for work in the state of Utah, your employer should offer you compensation.

Each year the Internal Revenue Service sets the yearly mileage reimbursement rate. This amount is the minimum that each state should offer. Recently, the IRS approved an increase to 44 cents per mile. However, some states do offer more than that standard rate. Most employers will reimburse at or near (round up) miles traveled in the car. As an employee, you will still have the responsibility of giving your employer very specific information about your proof of insurance, the use of the car (where you are going and why) and how many miles you traveled.
