New Jersey Minimum Wage Update

  • The minimum wage for most employers increased to $13.00 per hour on January 1, 2022.
  • Wages for long-term care facility direct care staff members for 2020 thru 2024 were added to the wage and hour law notice.
  • Information about the effective minimum wage, long-term care facility direct care staff, and overtime was also added.

Wage and Hour Exemptions

Employees may be exempt from wage and hour laws based on criteria associated with their salary, actual duties, and skills. Exempt employees neither receive overtime pay nor qualify for minimum wage. New Jersey labor law defines these exemptions based on Executive, Administrative, or Professional status. Learn more here.
