Iowa Mandatory Update: Unemployment Insurance

The state of Iowa has announced a mandatory update regarding unemployment insurance that affects labor law posting requirements for all businesses.

The Iowa unemployment insurance poster has been updated, with changes including the following:

  • Employees can now file a claim in-person or online the same week they become unemployed
  • New instructions for online filing
  • Notice that employees without internet access can visit a local IowaWORKS center for assistance

All employers in Iowa are required to provide this notice to employees via an updated poster. Failure to do so could result in fines and other penalties.
