The Connecticut Department of Labor released updated Pregnancy Discrimination and Paid Sick Leave posters, and announced an increase to the state minimum wage.
Connecticut Pregnancy Discrimination Poster Update
- Applied correction to the complaint filing timeline from 180 to 300 days
Connecticut Paid Sick Leave Law Update
- Includes nearly all private sector employers with at least 25 employees in 2025
- Expands range of family members for whom employee may use leave
- Requires covered employers to provide 40 hours of leave annually at one time to employees
- Broadens reasons for leave including closures due to public health emergency and quarantines
- Expanded regulations effective January 1, 2025
Connecticut Minimum Wage Law Update
- Minimum wage set to increase to $16.35 per hour
- Minimum wage is annually indexed each year, effective January 1
- New rate effective January 1, 2025
Wage and Hour Exemptions
Employees may be exempt from wage and hour laws based on criteria associated with their salary, actual duties, and skills. Exempt employees neither receive overtime pay nor qualify for minimum wage. Connecticut Labor Law Posters Update
All businesses within the State of Connecticut must display the new “Pregnancy Discrimination and Accommodation in the Workplace”, “Paid Sick Leave”, and “Connecticut Department of Labor Administrative Regulations” posters along with other state-mandated posting requirements where they are sufficiently accessible and viewable to all employees. These changes will be reflected in our 2025 Connecticut Labor Law Poster. Failure to meet compliance requirements and display the updated posters could result in fines.
