The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment set forth an increase to the state minimum wage rate in 2025. The Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies released a revised discrimination poster adding a protected characteristic and providing additional information about filing deadlines.
Colorado Minimum Wage Law Update
- Minimum wage increased to $14.81 per hour
- Effective January 1, 2025
Wage and Hour Exemptions
Employees may be exempt from wage and hour laws based on criteria associated with their salary, actual duties, and skills. Exempt employees neither receive overtime pay nor qualify for minimum wage. Colorado labor law defines these exemptions based on Executive, Administrative, or Professional status. Learn more here.
Colorado Discrimination Law Update
- Added protected characteristic for hair length effective June 3, 2024
- Added information regarding claim deadlines specifically that complaints must be filed within 300 days of the alleged employment discrimination
Colorado Labor Law Poster Update
All businesses within the state of Colorado must display the new “Colorado Overtime & Minimum Pay Standards Order” and “Colorado Law Prohibits Discrimination in: Employment” posters along with other state-mandated posting requirements where they are sufficiently accessible and viewable to all employees. These changes will be available in our 2025 Colorado Labor Law Poster. Failure to meet compliance requirements and display the updated posters could result in fines.
