California Mandatory Updates: Minimum Wage, Discrimination Notice

The state of California has announced a mandatory minimum wage update that affects labor law posting requirements for all businesses (with very few exceptions).

The revisions include both 2019 and 2020 minimum wages, along with allowances for room and board. Here’s how things are changing over the next two years:

  • Effective January 1, 2019 for employers with 25 or fewer employees: $11/hour
  • Effective January 1, 2019 for employers with 26 or more employees: $12/hour
  • Effective January 1, 2020 for employers with 25 or fewer employees: $12/hour
  • Effective January 1, 2020 for employers with 26 or more employees: $13/hour

Notice Date: December 14, 2018

The state of California has announced a mandatory discrimination notice update that affects labor law posting requirements for all businesses. Regardless of business size or industry, you must comply with this update.

The California Discrimination poster has been updated to include new harassment training requirements for employers. It may not appear to be a major change, but you’re required by law to display the updated information to employees.
