OSHA `It`s The Law` Poster

We’ve covered now several different state labor law compliance posters, from Alaska to Hawaii, North Dakota to South Carolina. But we haven’t spent as much time looking at the federal side of things in the poster equation. That said, let’s do it right now, by taking a look at the OSHA `It`s The Law` Poster.

This poster is among six federal postings that are likely to be included in any state mandatory poster collection for the work site. Besides the OSHA `It`s The Law` Poster, there is also the Family and Medical Leave Act posting, the federal minimum wage posting, the polygraph protection posting, the USERRA posting for employees in the armed services, and the Equal Employment Opportunity posting.

Each is equally important, but each covers a different aspect of employment and wage law. The OSHA `It`s The Law` Poster, for its part, covers workplace safety and employee health and welfare. Basically, it protects employees from unsafe materials at work, hazardous conditions at the work site, and other similar issues.

The OSHA `It`s The Law` Poster instructs employees about their rights and responsibilities in the area of work site safety. For instance, the OSHA `It`s The Law` Poster tell employees that they have the right to let their employer know if there is a hazard at their work. Employees can also even tell the OSHA federal department directly if there is an issue.

If they do go through OSHA, the OSHA `It`s The Law` Poster tells employees, then the employees can ask to be left anonymous, thereby protecting themselves against retaliation from their employer.

If said retaliation does occur, the OSHA `It`s The Law` Poster says, then the employees have 30 says to report their complaint to the proper authorities. Employees also have the right to see if their employer has past infractions with OSHA, and they can also see their own health record.
