Missouri Child Labor Law Posters

I had no trouble finding the child labor law for the state of Missouri online. Whenever a workplace has minors on the payroll, it is required that the Missouri Child Labor Law Posters be displayed. These Missouri Child Labor Law Posters must be placed somewhere easily accessible by employees, like a break room or work area.

I found that in the state of Missouri, all minors between the ages of 14 and 16 years old need work certificates in order to be employed during the school year. Minors under the age of 14 years are not permitted to work in this state, with some exceptions.

When the minor is under the age of 16 years, there are several limits to the hours they can work. A minor that is 14 or 15 years old can work up to 3 hours per school day, 8 hours per non-school day, 40 hours per week, and up to 6 days per week. They can work between the hours of 7 AM and 7 PM (extended to 9 PM from June 1st to Labor Day). There are circumstances when these restrictions can be waived.

There are many jobs that cannot be filled by a minor in this state. These jobs are considered to be hazardous to the minor’s health in some way. Examples of restricted jobs include, but are not limited to, positions dealing with power driven machinery, mining, quarrying, stone cutting, and work with explosives.

There are many other child labor laws in this state. This blog gives only a summary of some of the child labor laws.
