Michigan 2006/2007 Minimum Wage

Michigan had a new minimum wage kick into effect this past October 1. The Michigan 2006/2007 Minimum Wage jumped up to $6.95 then, which was nearly a 10 percent increase over the former minimum wage before the Michigan 2006/2007 Minimum Wage increase, with the former wage being $5.15, or the same as the federal minimum wage.

The wage increases to the Michigan 2006/2007 Minimum Wage will not stop there. As of July 1, 2007, the Michigan 2006/2007 Minimum Wage will become $7.15 per hour, and then when July 1, 2008, rolls around, the Michigan 2006/2007 Minimum Wage will become $7.40 per hour.

The Michigan 2006/2007 Minimum Wage also has different pay rates for workers under the age of 18. Those rates are $5.91 starting back on October 1, 2006, which will then go up to $6.08 on July 1, 2007. Then when July 1, 2008, comes around, the Michigan 2006/2007 Minimum Wage for workers under the age of 18 will become $6.29.

The hourly minimum wage for tipped workers will not be affected by the Michigan 2006/2007 Minimum Wage. It will remain at $2.65 per hour, but the new law does make sure that employers have to ensure that all of their tipped employees earn at least an hourly wage of $6.95 per hour when tips and the cash salary are tallied together.
