Labor Law Poster Alert: New Minimum Wage Poster for Healthcare Workers in California

According to the California Department of Industrial Relations, the minimum wage for most employees is $16.50 per hour, effective January 1, 2025. Effective April 1, 2024, for Fast Food Restaurant employees, and effective October 16, 2024, for Healthcare Facility employees, the minimum wage is higher.

 

The “Supplement for Covered Health Care Employees” workplace poster has been recently updated to include tiered minimum wage rates and additional types of facilities covered under the healthcare minimum wage law. The new rates took effect on July 1, 2025. All healthcare employers covered by the new law are required to display the revised poster to ensure compliance with California wage and hour regulations.

 

Health Care Worker Minimum Wage Rates

 

To receive the higher minimum wage, employees must work in specific types of covered healthcare facilities and either deliver or support the provision of healthcare services. As of July 1, 2025, the following minimum wage rates apply based on facility type:

Dialysis clinics $24.00/hour
Intermittent clinics, community clinics, rural health clinics, or urgent care clinics (unless exempted) $21.00/hour
Hospitals with a higher governmental payor mix,independent hospitals with an elevated governmental payor mix, or rural independent health care facilities $18.63/hour
Facilities run by Large Counties (> 5M people) $24.00/hour
Facilities run by Medium Counties (250K – 5M people) $21.00/hour
Facilities run by Small Counties (<250K people) $18.63/hour
Other Covered Health Care Facilities $21.00/hour
