With 20 or more employees, must provide five paid sick days annually. In October 2015, this will expand to employers with 15 or more employees. Business with less than 20 employees must provide five unpaid sick days annually.
By May 1, 2014 provide notice to all current employees of the company sick leave policy and to all new employees once hired.
Documentation of compliance with the Act must be kept on file for two years or more.
The “New York City Earned Safe and Sick Time Form” is compliant with the notice requirement of the Act and when distributed to employees, will satisfy the employer notice requirement obligation.
