Maine Employees To See Increase to Paychecks in 2018

Minimum wage employees in Maine will see an increase in their paychecks come January 1, 2018.

All employers, private and public, regardless of size will see an increase to the minimum wage in 2018.  The new rate of $10 per hour applies to all employees except service workers (those who receive tips) as part of their wages.  Service employees’ minimum wage will be $5 per hour.  Should the tipped portion of the pay not bring the workers rate to $10 per hour, the employer will be responsible for making up the difference to ensure that every worker makes at least a total of $10 per hour (tips included).
