Wisconsin ( WI ) Labor Law Quick Facts:

The Wisconsin minimum wage is $6.50 per hour ($2.33 for tipped employees) and requires overtime after 40 hours. However, effective July 24, 2008 most employees are entitled to the federal minimum wage of $6.55 per hour. Minors and some disabled workers may be paid $5.90 per hour. Workers who are 16- or 17-years old are entitled to overtime after working 10 hours per day. The Wisconsin Equal Rights Division enforces the state law prohibiting discrimination based on age, ancestry, arrest or conviction record, color, religion, disability, genetic testing, polygraph results, marital status, military service, pregnancy, race, sex, and sexual orientation.*
