Effective July 1, 2010, the Kansas Clean Indoor Air Act prohibits smoking n most workplaces including restaurants and bars. Casino gambling floors, private clubs, tobacco shops and designated hotel rooms are exempt from the smoking ban. The Kansas minimum wage is $7.25 per hour, the same as the federal minimum wage. Under the state mini-Cobra law, employers with 2 -19 workers on group health insurance must offer an extension of up to 9 months when the employee is terminated or loses coverage. State law requires employers to treat pregnancy and childbirth as they would any other medical disability, and extend the same benefits.*
