Montana ( MT ) Labor Law Quick Facts:
The Montana minimum wage for tipped and non-tipped workers increases
from $6.90 per hour to $7.25 per hour on July 24, 2009, a change that
reflects the increase in the federal minimum wage. Employers with gross
revenue of less than $110,000 can pay workers $4.00 per hour. Changes
to the Montana unemployment law passed in May 2009 mean more workers
qualify for unemployment benefits upon termination under an alternate
base period. The state worker safety organization inspects public employers
including school, city and county governments under the Montana Occupational
Health Act. Private employers are inspected by OSHA, the federal Occupational
Safety and Health Administration.*
