Montana ( MT ) Labor Law Quick Facts:

Effective July 24, 2008 the Montana minimum wage is $6.55 per hour. A special provision of this law allows employers with gross revenue of $110,000 or less to pay workers $4.00 per hour. Tipped workers must be paid the full minimum wage. According to the Montana Labor Standards Bureau, employees must be paid for opening and closing, company travel and required meetings and training. When an employee is laid off or discharged, all wages are due within 4 hours or at the end of the business day, unless the employer has a preexisting written policy extending that deadline.*
