Kentucky ( KY ) Labor Law Quick Facts:
The Kentucky minimum wage increased from $6.55 to $7.25 per hour on
July 1, 2009. Kentucky law requires that employees be paid overtime
after 40 hours and on the seventh consecutive day of work. Under state
law, comp time cannot be given to any employee covered by the state
overtime law. State break laws require that employees be given an unpaid
meal break on each shift between the 2nd and 5th hour of work and a
paid 10-minute rest break for each 4 hours worked. Worker safety regulations
are enforced by KOSH, the Kentucky Occupational Safety and Health Review
Commission.*
