Kansas ( KS ) Labor Law Quick Facts:
Effective July 24, 2009 most Kansas employees are entitled to the federal
minimum wage of $7.25 per hour. The Kansas minimum wage remains the
lowest in the nation at $2.65 per hour until January 1, 2010. On that
date, it will increase to $7.25 per hour – a $4.60 increase and the
first in the state since 1988. The state law applies to employers and
employees who do not engage in interstate commerce, and to employers
with less than $500,000 in annual revenue. The Kansas “guns at work”
law limits the employer’s ability to prohibit licensed gun owners who
are employees from bringing their guns to work, especially if they are
left in a locked private vehicle in the employee parking lot.*
