Kansas ( KS ) Labor Law Quick Facts:

Kansas has the lowest state minimum wage in the nation, at $2.65 per hour under the Kansas Wage Payment Act. State law requires overtime after 46 hours per week. Federal law requires that most employees be paid at least $6.55 per hour effective July 24, 2008 and overtime after 40 hours per week. The Kansas Human Rights Commission enforces state laws against discrimination, including bias based on race, religion, color, sex, national ancestry, genetic screening or age. Under state law, according to the Kansas Department of Labor, employers cannot make deductions to worker’s paychecks for shortages or damages to property.*
