Georgia ( GA ) Labor Law Quick Facts:
The Georgia minimum wage is $5.15 per hour, but most employees in the
state are covered by the federal minimum wage law, which increases from
$6.55 to $7.25 on July 24, 2009. The federal minimum wage law applies
to employers who have revenue of $500,000 per year or more, or who engage
in interstate commerce. Georgia has no laws requiring meal periods or
rest breaks for employees over the age of 15. Georgia requires employers
to use E-Verify or a similar program to confirm the identity of workers
when hiring. Under the Georgia Security and Immigration Compliance Act.
Every employee under the age of 18 must have a work permit.*
