Florida ( FL ) Labor Law Quick Facts:
Effective January 1, 2009 the Florida minimum wage increases from $6.79 to $7.21 per hour. On the same date, the Florida 2009 minimum wage for tipped employees increases from $3.77 to $4.19 per hour. There is no provision for overtime in the state statute, but most employees are entitled to overtime after 40 hours under federal law. Under state law, minors under the age of 16 may work up to 8 hours on Saturday and only 3 hours on any other day of the week when school is in session.*
