Colorado ( CO ) Labor Law Quick Facts:
Effective January 1, 2011 the Colorado minimum wage is $7.36 per hour. The minimum wage for tipped employees is $4.34. The Work Share Program passed in 2010 allows a Colorado employer to reduce the salaries of all employees, rather than laying off some of the employees. Unemployment benefits are then prorated between all of the employees. Again in the 2010 session, the state legislature rejected a law making paid sick leave mandatory, leaving this decision up to individual employers. A Colorado law makes it a misdemeanor for an employer to require job applicants to disclose information about sealed arrest records, although they can be asked about convictions.*
The 2012 minimum wage rate for the state of Colorado is $7.64.
