Texas ( TX ) Labor Law Quick Facts:
The Texas minimum wage increases from $6.55 to $7.25 per hour, along with the federal minimum wage on July 24, 2009. The tipped minimum wage remains at $2.13 per hour, although employees must total at least $7.25 per hour in wages plus tips. Texas has no law that requires employers to give meal periods or rest breaks to workers in most industries. The Texas Payday law requires employers to pay workers all wages due on the announced payday. State law also prohibits employers from disclosing the employee's Social Security number to anyone outside the company, under any circumstances.*
