Pennsylvania ( PA ) Labor Law Quick Facts:

Pennsylvania employers may see a more pro-business climate after the victory of Republican Governor Corbett in the 2010 election. A recent Pennsylvania court ruling makes it easier for employers to enforce a non-compete agreement involving trade secrets or proprietary information, even when an employee is fired for misconduct or laid off. The Pennsylvania Construction Workplace Misclassification Act imposes stiffer penalties including criminal charges for any employer who misclassifies an employee as an independent contractor. Victims of domestic violence or stalking are entitled to 4 – 8 weeks of unpaid leave. This Pennsylvania law covers sexual partners and people who share biological children, even if they do not live together.*
