Virginia ( VA ) Labor Law Quick Facts:

Effective July 24, 2008 the Virginia minimum wage is $6.55 per hour. The state minimum wage applies to employers with 4 or more workers. Virginia is the only state that sets no limit on the amount of tip credit a small employer can take. If a tipped worker earns at least $6.55 per hour, the cash wage can be zero. The Virginia Occupational Safety and Health Compliance Program oversees worker safety for both public and private employers. According to the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry, most employees are entitled to overtime after 40 hours under federal, not state, law.*
