New Mexico ( NM ) Labor Law Quick Facts:
Effective January 1, 2009 the New Mexico minimum wage is $7.50 per hour. For tipped employees, the New Mexico minimum wage is $2.13 per hour. Employers must have a work permit on file for any employee under the age of 16. State law does not require any meal periods or breaks for adult workers. However, breaks of less than 30 minutes, if given, must be paid. Employers may reduce wages, but employees need to be informed before the work is performed.*
