New Jersey ( NJ ) Labor Law Quick Facts:

The New Jersey mini-COBRA law, also called the NJCOBRA, requires employers (including churches) with 2 to 50 workers to extend health insurance coverage to former employees for up to 18 months. The law also covers the spouse or dependents in the case of death or divorce. The New Jersey minimum wage is $7.25 per hour, but tipped employees can be paid $2.13 per hour. New Jersey has the most extensive family leave statutes in the nation, and the state offers 6 weeks of paid New Jersey Family Leave for baby bonding or to care for a sick family member. In addition, the state offers paid short term disability to most employees.*
