Effective July 24, 2009 most Arkansas employees are entitled to a minimum wage of $7.25 per hour under federal law, which applies to employers with $500,000 or more in revenue, or to employees who engage in interstate commerce. Smaller employers can pay the Arkansas minimum wage of $6.25 per hour. Effective July 31, 2009 Arkansas employers must provide reasonable unpaid break time for an employee who is a nursing mother to express breast milk. The employer must make a reasonable effort to provide a space near the work area that is private, secure and sanitary –other than a toilet stall – for this purpose. The employee must make a reasonable effort to minimize disruption of the employer’s operations.*
