Description The Illinois Clean Indoor Air Act replaced the Smoke-Free Illinois Act on January 1, 2008 and is in place in order to prohibit employees from smoking within the workplace. According to the Act, employees that smoke may be able to do so in designated smoking areas outside of the place of employment as long as those areas are away from doors and windows.
