New Hampshire ( NH ) Labor Law Quick
Facts:
Effective July 24, 2008 the New Hampshire minimum wage is $6.55 per
hour, with overtime after 40 hours. On September 1, 2008, the state
minimum wage will increase to $7.25 per hour. Employees are entitled
to a 30 minute unpaid meal break after 5 consecutive hours of work.
An employee who is fired must be paid within 72 hours. Employees who
resign may be paid on the next regular payday. New Hampshire employers
must have a Youth Employment Certificate (also known as “working papers”)
on file within 3 days after hiring a 12 to 15 year-old worker.*
