Labor Law Quick Facts:
Effective July 24, 2008 the New Hampshire minimum wage is $6.55 per hour, with
overtime after 40 hours. On September 1, 2008, the state minimum wage will increase
to $7.25 per hour. Employees are entitled to a 30 minute unpaid meal break after
5 consecutive hours of work. An employee who is fired must be paid within 72
hours. Employees who resign may be paid on the next regular payday. Employers
must have a Youth Employment Certificate (also known as “working papers”)
on file within 3 days after hiring a 12 to 15 year-old worker.*
