Labor Law Quick Facts:
Mississippi is one of only 5 states that have no minimum
wage laws. Most employees in the state are entitled
to $5.85 per hour and overtime after 40 hours under
federal law. Mississippi has few state Child Labor Laws.
Instead, young people under the age of 16 are restricted
in the hours that they can work and their occupations
by the federal laws. Under the federal FMLA, most employees
are entitled to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected family
leave.*
