Labor Law Quick Facts:

Effective July 1, 2008 the Illinois minimum wage is $7.75 per hour. Employees are entitled to overtime after 40 hours. State law mandates that terminated employees be paid for any unused vacation. The Smoke-Free Illinois Act prohibits smoking at virtually all places of employment, and requires employers to post non-smoking notices on entrances. The law also prohibits smoking within 15 feet of door, window or air duct of any place of employment. Employees are entitled to overtime after 40 hours. Illinois law requires that any worker who is terminated be paid for all accrued vacation time.*
