Labor Law Quick Facts:
The District of Columbia minimum wage is $7.00 per
hour ($2.77 for tipped employees) with overtime required
after 40 hours. The D.C. Office of Wage-Hour enforces
the law requiring fired workers to be paid the next
business day. Employees who resign may be paid on the
next regular payday, provided that is not more than
7 days. There are no child labor laws; instead, the
hours and conditions of employment for people under
16 are set by federal law. *
