The New Jersey Smoke Free Air Act has been effective since April 15, 2006. The Act prohibits employees from smoking within the workplace. However, smokers may go outdoors to smoke in designated areas as long as those areas are away from doors and windows on the workplace.

Employers should post no smoking information within the workplace in an area that is visible by all employees so that employees understand their rights under the New Jersey Smoke Free Air Act. This no smoking poster is written in both Spanish and English to help ensure that all employees understand that they may not smoke indoors while at work.
