Labor Law Quick Facts:
The 2008 Vermont minimum wage is $7.68 per hour. The
minimum wage for tipped employees in hotels, motels,
tourist places & restaurants is $3.72 per hour.
Tipped workers in other businesses must be paid at least
$6.25 per hour. State law requires that employees be
paid overtime after 40 hours. Vermont law requires “short-time
family leave” of 4 hours per month, not to exceed
24 hours per year, for parents to attend to a child’s
medical emergency, or for a child’s doctor or
dentist appointment, or school activities.*
