Labor Law Quick Facts:
Under South Carolina law, an employee who is terminated
must be paid within 48 hours, or on the next regular
payday. South Carolina is one of only 5 states in the
union that has no state minimum wage or overtime law.
Most workers in the state are covered under the federal
minimum wage, currently $5.85 per hour with overtime
after 40 hours. The state Human Affairs Commission enforces
laws prohibiting discrimination based on race, age,
sex, handicap, national origin or religion.*
