Labor Law Quick Facts:
The Rhode Island minimum wage is $7.40 per hour or
$2.89 for tipped employees. Employees are entitled to
overtime after 40 hours. In addition, employees in the
retail industry, and certain other businesses, are entitled
to overtime on Sundays and holidays. The state family
leave law provides up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected
leave every 2 years for most employers who work 30 hours
or more. The law permits leave to care for in-laws,
as well as children, spouses and parents.*
