Labor Law Quick Facts:

The New York minimum wage is $7.15 per hour with overtime after 40 hours. Employees are entitled to a 30 minute unpaid meal break in most cases, with 60 minutes for factory workers. The New York state worker safety organization applies only to state and local governments; private employers are covered by OSHA. New York is one of just 5 states with a state-wide short term disability program. Employment Certificates (or “working papers”) are required for workers under 18.*

New York No Smoking Poster All businesses in the state of New York should post the state specific No Smoking Notice at the entrance and exit areas of the building along with other areas of the building where smoking is prohibited.
Choking Poster
The Health Department in most states mandates that a choking poster be posted in restaurants. It is mandatory in some states but highly recommended that if you run a business that serves beverages and/or food, you should post a choking poster in a common area.
