Labor Law Quick Facts:
The Georgia minimum wage is $5.85 per hour. Employees
are entitled to overtime after working 40 hours per
week by federal law. Under the new Georgia Security
and Immigration Compliance Act, many employers are required
to use the Employee Eligibility Verification program
operated by the Department of Homeland Security when
hiring workers. Although the Georgia Child Labor laws
set no restrictions on hours for those over the age
of 16, every employee under 18 must have a valid work
permit.*
